Overview
The course is about developing
excellent team leaders. Team leaders are key components in achieving
management expectations. This course will highlight 7 essential qualities that will empower the
participant to become an excellent team
leader. It will also show him/her how to practice these
qualities in a day-to-day basis in the organization.
1. Self-Improving
Excellent team
leaders value self-improvement. They recognize that they
cannot give what they do not have. That is why he/she never
stops learning through different media. Every leader must
have his/her own self-development plan.
2. Mentors and Coaches Team
Members
Excellent team leaders are not just
concerned about accomplishing goals; they are also concerned about
each member of the team. He/she
recognizes that each team member has
potential. He/she takes responsibility in bringing out this
potential.
3. Able to Deal with Problems
Excellent team
leaders are composed and clear-minded when there are team
problems. They are prepared with contingency plans but most
of all they are prepared mentally and emotionally. Therefore,
the team is not easily shaken when they see their team leader's
ability to handle problems.
4. Inspires Confidence
Excellent team leaders communicate
confidence. It means that they communicate their expectations
clearly and at the same time show their confidence in the team players. Every team player must be affirmed in one way or
another that the team leader has confidence
in them.
5. Fosters Team Unity
Excellent team leaders foster a
strong team unity. One of the
differences between a working group and a team is a sense of connectivity. A working
group is just concerned about the output of each individual.
In contrast, a team is concerned about the
output of the whole team. They feel
that the failure of one is the failure of the team and the success of one is also the success
of the team.
6. Confronts Non-Team Players
Excellent team leaders deal with
non-team players. There is a saying
that the chain is only as strong as the weakest link.
Non-team players must be dealt with quickly
to avoid lowering the morale of the team.
7. Hits the
Target
Excellent team leaders deliver
results and more. This means doing everything legally and
ethically possible to accomplish the mission. No
excuses! And if possible, deliver more than what is
expected.
